The 2 CV was designed with the aim of being an economical car, both in purchase and in maintenance. This is why manufacturing must be fast and the general wear and tear of the car low.
So it's in the middle  of the 1930s , that Pierre Jules Boulanger decided to create the first "popular" car. His desire is clear: he wants a vehicle with simple comfort, accessible to as many people as possible, therefore inexpensive,

The specifications call for it as follows: make a car that can carry four people and 50 kg of potatoes or a keg,
at a maximum speed of 60 km/h, for a consumption of 3 liters per hundred, a low maintenance cost and a selling price of one third of the traction.
To transform his dream into reality, he enlists the services of André Lefebvre as an engineer , and of Flaminio Bertoni  said "golden fingers", as stylist.
This team will give birth to one of the greatest automobile myths of the century: the 2CV.
