Symbol of the family and popular car, the  Fiat 500  was born under the influence of the dictator Mussolini, who wanted to revive the Italian economy by offering each citizen the possibility of acquiring a car at a low price. 
A first generation, nicknamed Topolino, was marketed in 1936. It was also so successful that Hitler decided to do the same by summoning a certain Ferdinand Porsche.
It was therefore in 1957, under the aegis of automobile architect Dante Giacosa, that the first Nuova 500 was produced. Four seats, 13 HP, rear engine, the little Fiat was capable of reaching 90 km/h for only 4.5 liters of fuel consumption per 100 km.
This success quickly spread beyond the borders, so much so that the convertible Fiat 500 strutted around on all the roads of Europe. However, sales gradually declined, and the firm decided to stop production in 1970.
The Fiat 500 is the best-selling car in Italy so far (2022).
